Character
Name: Yamatonokami Yasusada
Age: Several hundered years old
Gender: Male
Canon: Touken Ranbu (Games with some stuff taken from Hanamaru)
Canon Point: After World 7 (Memory of Enkyou) but before his Kiwame
History: http://touken-ranbu.wikia.com/wiki/Yamatonokami_Yasusada
http://yue-ciel.tumblr.com/post/115763464091/yamatonokami-yasusada
Personality: Yamatonokami Yasusada was the favorite sword of Okita Souji, but before that, he was a high-quality sword who was so difficult to use that he was often given away or sold for cheap by every other master he had before Okita, who was the only person who ever managed to make proper use of him. With that in mind, it's easy to see why Yasusada is still not over Okita's death even several centuries later. His obsession with Okita is one of the core aspects of his character, motivating most of his actions and informing many of his personality traits.
Okita was considered a kind man who could often be rather snarky and strict with his comrades but terrifying in battle. Yasusada tries to emulate this as much as he can. Though it isn't like he isn't really like that naturally to some degree since in Touken Ranbu most of the swords will in some way take after their most famous previous owners. He just plays it up more than necessary. He's probably a much nicer and warmer person than Okita was and the strictness only comes up in combat situations, especially if he was chosen as the captain in a sortie, but he can be quite snarky when the need arises and is not at all afraid to speak his mind. He can also come off as a bit unhinged in battle at times (as shown when you reach a boss node with him as captain).
All that aside, Okita isn't the only person he cares about. He's quite close to all the other Shinsengumi swords at the Citadel, especially Okita's other sword, Kashuu Kiyomitsu. Kashuu is his best friend, his partner and sometimes a rival of sorts. Exactly how well they get along varies depending on the adaptation you look at, but they're always partners no matter what. Kashuu's obsession with his appearance and constant attempts to win the Saniwa's favor does tend to get on his nerves at times and sometimes wonders whether Kashuu will ever forgive Okita for having to throw him away after he broke, but he always tries to look out for Kashuu and appreciates it when the other does the same for him.
His relationship with and feelings regarding the Saniwa themselves are more complicated. On the one hand, he wants the Saniwa's love and approval just as much as Kashuu does even if he's usually less obvious about it barring a few lines in-game. On the other hand, part of why he isn't over Okita is because he's afraid no one will ever be able to appreciate him as much as Okita did, so he's often friendly but distant towards them. He still does everything he can to be as useful to his new master as possible.
